It would seem that the the anomalous research field has comparatively few serious and grounded researchers and spokespersons. The field at large attracts some of the most far-out-on-the-fringe people imaginable--many with seemingly high credibility. Take this recent news story for example:
BAS official: Aliens are among us http://sofiaecho.com/2009/11/23/819575_bas-official-aliens-are-among-us
Aliens live on Earth and are in constant communication and interaction with us, Bulgarian scientists told Novinar, quoted by Dnes on November 23 2009.
It was even claimed that some alien species were present during a media statement in which they had answered more than 30 questions put forward by Bulgarian Academy of Science (BAS) personnel.
Luchezar Filipov, deputy head of the Space Exploration department within the BAS, told reporters that "they (the aliens) are here right now, among us". He said that, although there is little awareness of their presence, they are conducting surveillance and research on Earth.
The scientist said that they are not hostile in any way; on the contrary, they are friendly and willing to help us. Unfortunately, due to our lack of evolution and development, we are unable to conduct any coherent form of conversation with this superior life form. "They want to help us, but the problem is that we don't know what to ask of them once a contact is established," Filipov told Dnes daily.
Filipov reckons that it will be impossible to try and track extraterrestrial life with our current radar equipment, or through the usage of radio telescopes. Apparently, the aliens were "categorical" that any future means of contact between us and them would be conducted through mental power and telepathy.
"The aliens are very critical of our immoral behaviour and our destruction of the environment. They say that global warming is attributed mainly to infrastructural engineering. Additionally, they are very skeptical of our use of cosmetics, and artificial insemination because this is 'unnatural,'" Filipov said.
According to Filipov, his team of scientists are currently analysing the answers to their questions from the interactions with the visitors. The scientists aim to have a coherent "strategic plan" pertaining to questions which they will put forward to the extraterrestrials in their next meeting, which is said to be in the spring of 2010, Dnes reported.
I literally laughed until I had tears streaming down my eyes over the statement, "they are very skeptical of our use of cosmetics, and artificial insemination because this is 'unnatural.'"
Of all the terrible social issues plaguing humanity such as starvation, illegal wars, homelessness, disease, and man's general inhumanity to man, the so-called aliens specifically highlight "cosmetics and artificial insemination"? WTF? Pulease!
If we are to believe this news story, then Filipov's comments are irresponsible, reckless, and smack of religious indoctrination. Perhaps Filipov would be more comfortable living with the Amish or another fundamentalist religion where the women are treated as subservient human beings. Furthermore, Filipov and those like him are in desperate need of meds for their aberrant mental conditions. His comments sound more like channeled messages that are ambiguous at best, and BS at worst. It is also interesting that Filipov doesn't offer one shred of evidence for his claims.
Even if this news story doesn't accurately reflect Filipov's statements, there are still too many others out there who proffer the same kind of utter nonsense.
So, ParaNexus members, take heart that those of you who are serious, rational, and still have your feet on the ground are sorely needed in this field. We will need a pretty big machete to cut through all of the fringe crap running rampant in this field. And this is not a popular position in the field to be sure. Indeed, those who pioneer and lead the way are often the subject of criticism.
We must continue to think for ourselves and look for answers that have strong rational and scientific support, or at the very least, strong anecdotal support. We must grow and evolve in our thinking and approach or we'll never make any progress. However, the blazing of new trails must be done on firm ground, not on wishful thinking. Now is the time to leave old thinking behind, and this includes superstitious and fear-promoting concepts such as orbs and demonology which have no place in serious research.
Let us all share our knowledge, ideas, and expertise in an effort to find answers while we are still alive and in a position to benefit the world.
