Overview
The ParaNexus Registry was conceived early on by ParaNexus
Founders Doug Kelley and Jari Mikkola as a means of sharing
investigation and research data among the anomalous research
community. Many databases exist but are either not easily
accessible or contain dubious data.
The ParaNexus Registry is intended to
satisfy the need for accessible data primarily in the
fields of parapsychology (including hauntings), ufology,
and the alien abduction phenomena.
Visitors to the Registry are able to
report a sighting or anomalous event using a public short
form. ParaNexus members and Certified ParaNexus Field
Investigators (CPFI) have the long form available for
input. Additionally, those who submit reports can also
upload related photos, audio, and video files.
Visitors are able to view and search
the long forms for cross comparisons among fields. This
is what makes the ParaNexus Registry different than most
others.
Registry
Development
In our efforts to make a database available, we reconfigured
a popular real estate software program to fit our needs.
However, after more than six months, it was not being used
and no reports were submitted. We attributed this lack to
the fact that the original Registry was overly complicated
and required users to register again.
Therefore, the decision was made to create
and build a new Registry from the ground up that bridged
into ParaNexus’ existing site. This avoided the need for
visitors to register in order to submit a report and also
avoided the need for our members to register again to do
the same. The result is an integrated database that is easy
to use.
The database is also used to manage client
cases that come to us online. We have the ability to assign
cases to CPFI’s who can then submit reports once the case
is closed.
Future developments include a case management
system for ParaNexus members as well as several other concepts.
Registry
Developers
Project Manager for the ParaNexus Registry is Michael Jones,
Technical Development Coordinator for ParaNexus. He is assisted
by Doug Kelley, Executive Director of ParaNexus. Together,
they have invested hundreds of hours in developing, writing,
and testing the software. They welcome feedback and concepts
for improving the Registry. Send any feedback to admin@paranexus.org.
