About
ParaNexus |
How is ParaNexus
Organized?
ParaNexus was
founded in February 2008 by Doug Kelley and Jari Mikkola. In
January 2009, Doug Kelley took responsibility for ParaNexus and
now operates it as a non-commercial forum for furthering the
anomalous research field. For
more information, please see
About
Us.
|
Does ParaNexus
compete
with other organizations and groups?
Absolutely not!
ParaNexus never competes with any other organization or group.
ParaNexus is extremely open to working and collaborating with
other research and investigation organizations. We are in this
together and only by working along side each other will we find
answers to the enigmas before us.
|
Does ParaNexus have
501(c)(3) tax exempt status?
ParaNexus was
granted
501(c)(3) status effective September 11, 2009. However, due to the
poor economy of recent years, the Board of Directors voted to
dissolve the legal corporation and tax exempt status effective
December 31, 2011. ParaNexus is now under the private ownership of
Doug Kelley as a non-commercial pursuit.

The Directory
of Anomalous Researchers |
What is the Directory used for?
The Directory is a
benefit of membership. It allows the public to locate an
investigator or researcher in their local area. The Directory
shows all current members who offer investigative services to the
public. Participation is voluntary for members.
|
How do I get my listing in the
Directory?
The Directory only
lists current members. If you are a current member, then go to your Profile,
scroll down and click on "Forum Profile Information," then check
the box next to "List on Public Directory?" IMPORTANT:
You must also fill in your Research Group Name, Website URL, city,
state (if applicable), and country or your listing will not
appear.
|
What do the icons next to
names mean?
These icons show
which certification courses the member has taken.
|
How do I upload a
picture for the directory?
Your picture is
taken from your Profile
> Forum Profile Information. Upload it there. You must use your
real picture. Avatars are not allowed.

Which Certification
Courses are Accepted by ParaNexus for Membership?
Effective January 1,
2012, all ParaNexus members must have suitable training in the
anomalous research field, or they must possess an academic
scientific degree.
The primary courses endorsed by
ParaNexus is the
Certified Paranormal Investigator Course (CPI) and the
Certified Leading Paranormal Investigator Course (CLPI). This is to ensure the quality of training for
members. However, individuals with a CPI/CLPI course certification
or metaphysics degree in Paranormal Science from the
Institute of Metaphysical Humanistic Science (IMHS) as well as those who have completed the
MUFON Field
Investigator course also qualify for membership. Other degrees in a scientific discipline or
a minor in parapsychology may also qualify. See the
Join
ParaNexus page for more information.

I Currently Hold a
Non-Certified Membership. Do I Need to Get Certified?
Non-Certified
members under the previous membership format have been grandfathered
into the new membership arrangement and are not required to become
certified, however, they are strongly encouraged to do so. More
information on becoming certified is available at the
Institute of Metaphysical Humanistic Science.

Forums & Website |
I've registered,
but can't
post - why?
If you are unable to post,
it means either your account hasn't yet been approved by Admin or
you haven't renewed your membership.
|
Why can't I see all
of the forum boards?
Access to certain
forum boards is contingent on membership. Only members, and Consultants have access to
all forum boards.

Here to join ParaNexus.
|
Can I use a screen
name or avatar?
No, we do not
allow screen names and avatars. All registered members must use
their real first and last name. If you are commonly known by a nick
name, you may use it as your display name, but your username must be
your real name. Members must also use their real photo rather than
an avatar. This is not only more befitting to a professional
association, but it also helps us to block spammers and unscrupulous
individuals from joining. All registrations using a screen name will
be rejected.
|
How do I upload my
picture to my profile?
Navigate to the top
menu bar and click on Profile.
Then scroll down near the bottom of the page and click on "Forum Profile Information."
You can upload your pic there. Be sure to click on "Save" after
uploading. You must use your
real picture. Avatars are not allowed. Your forum profile pic is
not to be confused with uploading pics to your Ultimate Profile,
that is a separate feature (see next item).
|
I uploaded my picture
to my profile but it doesn't show up or it shows as a red "X".
This happens when
you try to upload a pic that is too big in pixels. Please reduce
your pic to 500 pixels wide or less. Optimal size is 100 pixels
wide by 125 pixels high.
|
How do I customize my
Profile page?
You can customize
your Profile page much in the same way as you do on MySpace. Simply
login, click on "Profile" on the top menu bar, scroll down to the
section, "Modify Profile," then click on "Ultimate Profile." You can
paste your MySpace code in the text boxes.
You might need some
additional code so that your page looks right once you've added your
other code. Add the codes below to your other code at the end just
before the closing tag (ex. </style>). Be sure to modify the colors
if necessary. If it doesn't work, then you have missed a character
or improperly named the color.
-
To clear or change
the color of the section box's background, add:
.windowbg {background: none;}
-
To change the
color of the section title background bar, add:
td.titlebg {background: darkred;}
-
To change the
background of the bar at the bottom that shows the number of pages,
add: td.catbg3 {background: #00FFCC;}
Click
Here for more information and two pre-done templates that you can
customize
|
Can guests view my Profile page?
Yes, but they cannot
view your email address unless you place it in your "About Me"
section.
